What are the standard waste services for residential homes in the Town of Cambridge?

All eligible standalone residential properties in the Town should at a minimum now have the following standard services: 120L general waste bin (red lid),, 240L recycling bin (yellow lid), 240L FOGO (food organics and garden organics) bin (light green lid) as a standard service.

Why isn’t the bin or additional service I requested appearing on my Rates Notice?

If the bin or additional waste service you requested is not shown on your 2024/25 Rate Notice, this is because your request was made after 1 July 2024, or because your bin had not been delivered to you by 1 July 2024. We will only charge you from the date the bin is delivered. The annual fee will be pro rata from the date of delivery, to 30 June 2025. Please be assured we are processing requests made after 1 July 2024 as quickly as possible.

How do I change the number of bins I have, or report a damaged bin?

If you have a damaged bin you can report it via the online form. Please note: replacement bins may be a serviceable second-hand bin.

Will you issue me a new Rates Notice?

Please pay your annual rates notice as issued. We will issue you an Interim Rates Notice after the due date of your annual rates notice, showing your requested waste service changes and charges. No revised annual rates notice will be issued for waste changes requested after 1 July 2024.

Should I pay my rates even though the waste charges aren’t on it?

Yes. Please pay your annual Rates Notice as issued. We will issue an Interim Rates Notice after the due date of your annual rates notice, showing your requested waste service changes and charges.
