I found the people running it somewhat unfriendly and odd, but the exhibits are of a good standard. I didn't find anything macabre about it. Taxidermy is a fine art and there are some masterpieces here. The taxidermist is not the world's greatest taxidermist - the habitats in which the figures are set are not great, if they even exist at all. There are tell-tale signs of deterioration of the exhibits - fur, skin and feathers, which of course indicates poor technique when they were initially mounted. However, this is only a small portion of the mountings.
It's good for taxidermy enthusiasts that this is in Perth.
