The Thompson technique involves the use of a special adjusting table. This is a lighter form of manual adjustment. The activator is a hand held device which applies an extremely gentle and specific adjustment to the misaligned vertebra. The activator instrument is generally what is used for the babies and children that visit our practice. The activator is also great for the elderly, osteoporotic or acutely sore client.

FAQschevron down

How long does it take when I come into the practice?

After the initial consultation and report of findings visits, we know exactly where the problems are and how they need to be corrected. The good news is that at subsequent visits most people are in and out of our office within 15 to 20 minutes!

Who can have chiropractic care?

Anyone who has a spine! Our clients range in age from newborns to the elderly.

How often do I need to be adjusted?

Depends on a number of factors such as what the problem is and its chronicity, age of the client and their state of health and their level of participation in their own program of care. Each schedule of care is individually tailored for that person.

What interrupts the nerve supply?

Misalignment or improper motion of the spinal vertebrae interferes with the delicate nerves that exit from the spine. Chiropractors call these interferences subluxations.

Do poorly functioning joints always cause pain?

No, often spine and joint related problems are the results of a culmination of many stressors over a long period of time. Dysfunction of the spinal joints may be present long before any significant symptom is evident.

Do adjustments hurt?

The majority of the time it does not. If there is discomfort associated with an adjustment it is very mild.

Do we give advice at Arana Hills Chiropractic on postural issues and other causative factors to help prevent reoccurrence of a problem?

Yes, we give advice.

I have had previous spinal surgery, can I have chiropractic care?

Yes, you can have chiropractic care.

I'm pregnant, can I have chiropractic care?

Yes. Chiropractic care during pregnancy alleviates symptoms of back pain and sciatica associated with the postural changes, joint sprain/instability and muscular tension related to pregnancy. Chiropractic care is safe and effective during and after pregnancy. We do not X-ray pregnant clients.

Can babies and children have chiropractic care?

Yes. It is our opinion that it is better to address spinal problems as they occur rather than wait for them to become bigger problems! Chiropractic for babies and children is extremely safe. We do not X-ray babies and we avoid X-rays of children unless it's absolutely necessary.
