Small issue big lie

Three days ago I dropped off my car Battery Exide N70ZZLMF to be charged as it has not been used for some time. The Mechanic said he would put it on a long charge over the weekend. When I came to pick the battery up this morning ,the same mechanic said that the battery was dead and asked how old it was , I said around twelve months. He said I should ask for a warranty replacement. He showed me a readout from his device and it read that it was only quarter charged.

I took the battery home and on picking it up from the boot of my car I spilt liquid over my pants which came from the battery. I looked at it closely and found that the seal between the main body and the top of the battery had been pried open as and the liquid was running out of the gap and in fact the lid was loose. there are wear marks on the seal area which look like a screw driver was used to pry it open.

I returned to the Repco workshop and asked the mechanic why he had pried open the battery as I had spilt battery acid all over my pants which was not the case when I had dropped off the battery. I know that there was no sigh of the battery being tampered with when I first dropped it off. He bluntly denied any wrong doing and saidI was accusing him.

These batteries are sealed units as the label on the front indicates, they are suppose to be maintenance free.
