I've been taking my car to Automasters for services for years now and I usually get a decent job. Last service cost me over $1400 which is a small fortune for me but I trusted their professionalism, but boy was I wrong. Just over a week later while I was parking my car I heard a massive crunch, I thought I had hit something so I got out and looked under my car and the bottom panel had fallen off and was sitting on the ground. There was nothing else there, no uneven ground no bump nothing. In a panic I called them to be told they were closing in 15min and is have to wait until Monday. I asked when I was supposed to do coz it was dragging along the ground as I drove and they said I just had to bring it in on Monday. To me it seemed that the panel hadn't been screwed on properly from the last service which would explain why it suddenly just fell off, when I took it back in they told me I had to pay $99 to have it screwed back on and kept saying that I hit a curb coz it was scratched and broken. It was obviously scratched and broken coz I had to drive along the freeway with it dragging on the ground to get home! And then having to pay $99 to get it screwed back on when it should have been done properly in the first place is total BS. I get that business is doing it tough right now but to so blatantly charge for what was your mistake in the first place is unacceptable. If there was even a slither of a chance that I could have somehow caused the bottom to fall off I wouldn't mind paying the fee and wouldn't be writing this review. I'm just furious at the way they treat people (he kept saying I must have run a curb and refused to listen to what I was saying) and try and suck out as much money from you as they can. It's appalling

I recently took my car in with some issues, including a misfiring engine and a persistent oil leak, based on good reviews for this business. They provided me with a tidy and comfortable loan car while they worked on my vehicle.
Later that day, I received a phone call telling me that the ECU had failed and needed to be replaced. They quoted me $700 for the new ECU plus labour, but when I arrived a few days later to collect the vehicle they gave me a bill for just under $1600. I was pretty shocked at the massive jump in price, which was attributed to the ECU, having replaced and re-wired components related to the ECU, including the ignition barrel, as well as fixed another issue for which they did not quote me (a crack in the coolant overflow tank). The operator told me that "we didn't realise all those parts would need to be replaced when we first quoted you". Noticing my annoyance, they wrote off the cost of the hire car for me, and told me "we'll fix the oil leak for you for free", so I booked in for the following week.
Because of my work hours, I had to drop the car off before opening. I called them before leaving work to check it had been completed. They informed me that it was good to go and I "only had to pay $110 for the de-grease"! I asked if I could collect the car that day (after closing, due to my work commitments) and pay on Saturday when I could make it in. The said fine. Finally got there to collect my car, and it was locked in the garage!
When I finally arrived the next day I had to argue the point with them that if they said "fix the oil leak for free" then I shouldn't have to pay. Finally they agreed and wrote off the $110. I asked them why they didn't leave the car for me, and they said "I didn't realise when I told you, but it's not company policy". I asked why they didn't just call back and let me know, but the guy just shrugged.
The work was good, but the service was terrible and they were very dishonest with me. Avoid.
