Why can't I just do it myself?

As a rule, the products we use can only be handled by a licensed pest control technician. This is for your safety. Many products that can be purchased from a hardware store or supermarket have little or no effect on many pest species. A licensed pest control technician understands that pests can only be effectively treated with pesticides specifically targeted at them.

What can I do to reduce the number of cockroaches?

Cockroaches like warm dark places and of course, food scraps. Once you have noticed cockroaches, it is essential to be extra careful about cleaning up after meals and removing all food scraps. It is also a good time for a spring clean and removing accumulated grease and oil deposits from around the stove and cooking areas. Try also to fill in any cracks and crevices around the bench top if possible.

Would my insurance pay for the termite damage done?

Insurance policies do not cover pest control as a part of their standard or optional policies. You would have to have a policy, especially written to cover pests such as termites, which I imagine would be very expensive.

Why do I have pests even when I have a clean home?

Just like people, pests need food, shelter and water and will do anything required regardless of how clean your home is. Some pests are introduced, for example, bed bugs and fleas that are searching for a blood meal from people or pets. We can advise you on the most effective plan to minimise or eliminate pests from your home. A simple example is removing their food source.

Is pest control safe for pets?

The safety of your pets is also our top priority. Other pest management methods may also be recommended where suitable such as tick and flea treatments for pets (contact your veterinarian for advice on the best product to use). Your technician can provide you with a checklist of what needs to be done before we treat your property. This includes the removal of pets from the property (or at least from the vicinity of the treatment area).

What should I do if I find termites at my property?

The sight of termites at your property is often a worrying experience. If you notice termite activity at your property, follow these steps: 1. Don't disturb them and if possible, try put things back the way they were. 2. Don't panic - termites will not cause major damage overnight. 3. Don't try to spray them with a pressure pack or use other chemicals on them. This will have a very limited effect and can scare them off for a while making it a lot more difficult for an expert to help you.

How often should I have pest control done?

We recommend that you have our spider cockroach treatment (which includes silverfish, clothes moths, earwigs and slaters) done every 12 months. This will ensure you don't give pests a chance to breed up. If you notice a pest infestation at your home, contact us ASAP before it becomes a problem.

Will mice or rats cause any damage if they are living in my ceiling?

Yes, mice & rats can chew on wiring causing electrical damage and fires. Their urine and faeces can stain ceilings and walls.

Is pest control safe? What about infants, children and pregnant mums?

Yes, pest control is safe. Not all pest control treatments use pesticides and sprays. Depending on the pest and your circumstances, we can use methods that include physical changes to the environment and trapping. When we do use pesticides, we select formulations and baits with the lowest toxicity available and apply these products where pests breed and live. This avoids the unnecessary application of these products and minimises any impact on you, your family and your pets.

What happens if I have asthma or allergies?

Your safety and peace of mind are our number 1 priority. Generally, it is simply a case of being out of the home for an extra couple of hours, however, there are many different products and techniques we can use to control pests.
