Alisons Alterations

I’ve been using Alison’s Alterations for many years, and always happy with job. The location and convenient parking is a plus. Always good to support small local business too.

Absolutely butchered the dress I gave to her and wouldn’t respond to any emails until the 5th was mail and were told “ I know my rights, go ahead”

Ruined my wedding and won’t reply or own up to her mistake !!!

We have been using Alisons Alterations for many many years - maybe 7 (?) and she custom makes clothes for our son who has scensory issues, as well as doing many clothing alterations and dry cleaning. The service is always fast, friendly and affordable. Cant recommend Alison's highly enough.

I had a terrible experience at Alison's Alterations. I had previously had alterations done on a white dress for my university graduation and it was difficult to get my head through it after the alterations had been done. I took it back, along with other garments that needed alterations, and asked what could be done about it so that I could fix this problem. Alison gave me two options: either I could put a zip or a hook and button and the back of the dress to make it easier to get my head through. I told her I would think about the options for the white dress but to go ahead with the alterations on the other garments. When I picked up the garments, she was very quick to charge me a sum that seemed incorrect for the alterations I had asked for. I asked to try them on and asked the individual prices. She told me the charges for the other garments as well as the White dress, which I hadn't asked to be altered. She said "I know that you said you would think about it but we put a slit in the white dress with a hook and a button". I told her that I am not willing to pay for a service I didn't ask for. She said "Well, what would you have done if you couldn't get your head through? We did it out of good faith". I told her that isn't the point and I told her she can't charge me for a service without my asking for it. Her response was "Okay. Just don't bring your business back". Nothing about this situation was in 'good faith'. I am terribly disappointed in how Alison conducts her business. My mother has had these experiences with Alison too.
