Curlewis is a bit of a hidden gem on the road to Portalington. I played here for the first time on March 23 with Social Golf Victoria. It is not particularly long but each hole is very interesting with extensive well-designed bunkering. The greens are large and well-maintained and a few of them have a couple of tiers and lots of slope. The par 3's are particularly challenging. Water hazards are in play on a number of holes but they are mostly dry at the moment. I have only played Curlewis once but I found its wide driving areas and well defined greens suited my game perfectly and I had my best round of golf for at least five years. As a visitor I felt very welcome and the focaccia in the club house was delicious. A round for a visitor is $35 which is great value. Curlewis is a better course than Portalington and probably on a par with Lonsdale Golf Club.
