Allan Sutherland Tiling

Allan did a complete bathroom renovation for me. Very professional, reasonably priced & knows his tiling. I had a curved shower screen installed, Allan cut the tiles to the curve, he made minimal cuts with the tiles that fell to the floor waste, grout lines on floor & walls line up perfectly both ways, fantastic!!!

I look at jobs other tilers have done for me previously and there's no comparison.

Allan has now done a few small jobs for me in some rentals, it's easy, just give him the keys and let him go, no need to check his work.

Allan Sutherland was contracted by the owner of the house I am renting to complete some shower regrouting and contacted me directly to sort out a time to conduct the repairs. When I explained that I prefer to be home when tradies are in my house and was trying to negotiate a time mutually agreeable for this, he became incensed and aggressively demanded I explain my reasons for not wanting people in my home when I'm not there - which I don't need to explain, frankly, I am within my rights as a tenant to require this. I told him that in the distant past, I've had issues with things going missing, pets being let out, among other issues such as my teenage daughter being home alone for a few hours afterschool, and now it's our policy to be present when inspections and repairs are conducted. He retorted that he would "just get the keys and let himself in, (I) wouldn't even know he'd been there" and I very firmly advised him that we do have a security system and cameras in place and that if he entered my property without consent, I would certainly pursue it.



Initially, Allan agreed to come when I could be home, and we found a mutually acceptable time for the repairs. He rang me back a few minutes later sounding very agitated (obviously after working himself up over it) and cancelled the appointment, and began screaming at me that he had never been accused of such things, etc etc - I cut him off and reminded him I hadn't accused him of anything, but that his defensiveness over my simple request was certainly a red flag and that it's perfectly fine with me for another tiler to do the job. He began yelling at me again so I ended the call, then shortly after I got a call from my property manager who let me know that Allen had complained about me to the owner of the house and now everyone's angry.



All of this because I don't want strange men in my house when I'm not home, potentially when my teenage daughter is home alone afterschool before I return from work. So, he's probably relatively cheap, but not worth the anger management issues and lack of respect for women.
