Venetia strives to make her clients feel safe and comfortable entrusting her with their most precious jewels.
Venetia became a Qualified Jeweller in 2007 at the age of 22, she went on to become a Qualified Gemmologist in 2010 and has been running Venetia Major - Bespoke Jewellery from her fully equipped studio in Charnwood, Canberra since 2015, expanding to offer silversmithing classes in 2017.
The design stage is the most important step in creating your unique piece of jewellery. Venetia takes the time to consult with you and discover your aesthetic and emotional perspectives in order to create the perfect piece of jewellery. During your consultation, Venetia will offer a series of sketches to refine the idea, bouncing off your feedback in order to achieve a design you love. Venetia strongly believes that the more you say no, the better the design gets.
Once I begin the creation of your piece of jewellery I stay in touch and keep you up to date with photos and videos of the progress. You will have a fitting session to try on your new piece to ensure that it is both a comfortable fit and meets your expectations. Any gemstones are then set into the piece and it is ready for its final polish and collection.
The final stage is to ensure that your new piece of jewellery is properly documented and protected. Bespoke Jewellery is proud to work closely with independent registered valuers and offer Q Report as their jewellery insurance provider of choice. Ongoing Maintenance Each custom made piece of jewellery made by Venetia Major - Bespoke Jewellery comes with a complimentary annual maintenance schedule. Venetia encourages her clients to bring the piece in every 12 months to be checked and cleaned.

How long does it take to have a ring custom made from scratch?
Depending on the workload at the time and the complexity of the piece, having a ring custom designed and handmade takes between 3 weeks and 3 months. Venetia will endeavour to accommodate urgent requests for special occasions.
How do I find out more about your silversmithing classes?
Pop in to the jewellery studio for a Prospective Student Tour where you can learn all about the silversmithing classes, meet Venetia and see the studio space. Tours are offered most Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Go to https://app.clubworx.com/websites/bespoke_jewellery to register today.
What is the minimum age of silversmithing students?
The youngest student so far has been 14 years old but Venetia is happy to teach anybody who is passionate about jewellery making.
Can we reuse my own gold?
Venetia always recommends starting with new gold so that she can guarantee the quality of the metal. Venetia will weigh your metal and offer a credit for the value of the gold components. This credit is applied to the new commission as a deduction from the total price. If you insist on reusing your existing metal a Melt Fee is applied and Venetia unfortunately can't guarantee the successful outcome, as cracking can be a major issue with re-melted gold.
What materials do you work in?
Venetia predominantly creates jewellery in platinum and 18ct yellow, white and rose gold. Occasionally 9ct yellow, white and rose gold and sometimes sterling silver.
Do you make wedding rings?
Yes, Venetia Major - Bespoke Jewellery can custom make your wedding ring using precious metals like gold and platinum. Whether it is custom made to contour perfectly around you engagement ring or is a traditional simple gold band, Venetia can make a wedding ring that is perfect for you.
Do you offer silversmithing classes?
Yes, Venetia Major - Bespoke Jewellery runs silversmithing classes at convenient times throughout the week.
Do you make engagement rings?
Yes, Venetia Major - Bespoke Jewellery specialising is custom made engagement rings. Guiding you through each step of the design process, providing a beautiful selection of diamonds to chose from and creating a stunning engagement ring like no other.
Can I supply my own diamonds and gemstones?
Yes, Venetia is happy to design a piece of jewellery featuring your gemstones and diamonds. Matching gems can be sourced if more a required for the design and feature gemstones can be added to the centre. Gems are susceptible to breakage and damage during the manufacturing process and the customer assumes all risk of loss when using their own gemstones. The gemstones provided by Venetia, however, are entirely Venetia's responsibility.
How much can I expect to pay to have a new piece of jewellery designed and handmade?
You should allow $4500 as a starting point to have a piece of jewellery custom made for you. There is no upper limit as it depends on the individual components you request. Argyle pink diamond, ruby, natural colour change alexandrite are all rare and valuable gems. Other factors include the skill and time required to handmake the design and the amount and type of metal used.

Venetia made me a custom wrap around wedding ring in 9 days! No one else could do that with such short notice. The speed certainly did not detract from the most pristine ring.
Each time I look at it, I am reminded of the love she certainly put into it.
Absolutely cannot stress how much I recommend her.

When I was born my grandparents bought me a peridot (my birthstone) Which was to be made into a ring on my 21st birthday. So this ring meant a great deal to my whole family. We came across Venetia via the web and booked a time to meet her. I am terrible with making decisions so i showed her numerous ring designs that i liked the look of. With her skills she incorporated the choices i made to create one absolutely stunning ring! We also had a budget and a deadline and she worked with us and made it all possible! I am extremely happy with the outcome, the ring is perfect i love it!! We will definitely come back to Venetia and i highly recommend her. You'll honestly get what you're looking for. Venetia is an extremely friendly person and an exceptional jeweller!

In celebration of 10 years of our marriage and two children, we wanted to create a ring that reflected our relationship, family and time together. Venetia listened to our ideas and designed a ring that brought all of these concepts into a complex, colourful and very beautiful ring.
Venetia was consultative through the entire process, easy to contact, receptive to our ideas and always very professional. She worked really hard to keep to our budget and her workmanship is amazing. We are so happy with the finished product. It is something unique and special, that draws the eye and reminds us of our family. It makes us smile every day.
We could not recommend her more highly to anyone who is looking to create something special.
