Down South Car Repairs has been my choice of mechanic for over a year, and I have had nothing but good experiences with them. The staff, especially the owner, are so friendly and understanding and have on more than one occasion have accepted my car at a moments notice.
A few months ago right in the middle of my university exam week, I began to have a lot of trouble with my car spontaneously turning off at really inconvenient times. Not only did Patrick and the team fix my car, he also gave me a loan car to get me to and from my exams so I wouldn't have the added stress of worrying about how to get to and from my exams.
Being a teenage girl, car talk goes straight in one ear and out the other - and this is the reason I changed mechanics and now get my car serviced and Down South Car Repairs. Patrick and the team are excellent! When I pick up my car they explain exactly what it is they have done to it in a way that I can understand, and often show me the faulty parts they have taken out of my car to help me better understand.
I used to stress about getting my car serviced because I felt way out of my depth. Since having become a regular customer of Down South Car Repairs, I know I can just drop my car off and know that its going to be in good hands - getting my car serviced isn't a stress anymore!

I have previously had my car serviced by Down South Car Repairs a few times without drama.
I went to them with the issue of my car over heating. The had the car for a full day; did some tests and supposedly 'serviced' my car but couldn't find the over heating issue. They charge my $205 for this.
Exactly 1 week later the same issue occurred. I dropped my car off to Down South Car Repairs and their conclusion was it required a new thermostat (this was at 4:30pm when I was leaving to pick up my car). They kept my car for an additional day, the charge for this was $220.
Again, a few days later the same issue occurred. Much frustration to myself as a car owner as I was under the impression that the issue had been fixed.
After getting a second opinion the 'head gasket' in my car had blown. If gone undiagnosed this could have ultimately seized my engine.
Whilst having this issue fixed through someone else; they did a full service on my vehicle. In doing so; they advised that the oil was 'black' and had not been changed in quote a while.
I believe that Down South Car Repairs took advantage of myself and also the fact that I am a female and do not have an understanding of vehicles. I will never go there again and won't be recommending them to any one I know.
