Adtrans Hino

Tuesday the 7th of April I put my truck into Adtrans Hino in Mascot for a Major Service (180,000) which they take all wheels off & repack the wheel bearings. They tell me it's an all day service. I rang Adtrans Hino up 3pm to see how my truck was going & they told me it would be ready in 30-45 minutes. I get down there to pick it up. They tell me it's $1,500 for the service and you need to do your rear Brakes you have 5% left & it won't last till next service. I asked Hino why they didn't call me to let me know that the rear brakes needed replacing while they had the rear axles & wheels off the truck.

There response was that they didn't have time to do the brakes & I have to bring it back another day. But now they want to charge me another $1,700 to do the rear brakes. I said to Adtrans Hino why should I pay you to do a job twice. I said you guys should have called me to let me know that I needed rear brakes while you had the truck apart. Why should I pay you guys twice to take my axles out and repack the wheel bearings. It's not my fault you couldn't give me a courtesy call to tell me the truck needs new brakes.

They also noted that my Bushes in the rear Leaf spring on the right hand side has excessive movement. They did not tell me this. I noticed it as I looked at the service receipt. I also rang them for a quote to replace the bush and they told me it will cost $100 for the part and that it would be a 5 hour job to replace & cost me $650.00 plus GST.

I also just had my brakes done by another mechanic who said to me it was pointless to replace the Bushes in the leaf spring at the moment as the new one will just get ruined if I don't rectify the problem which caused it.
