DONT MESS WITH THE BEST
Without doubt my favourite lunch spot in Melbourne. Its light and bright with a funky vibe. The service is quick, friendly and professional. And the food and coffee are excellent. Whether you want all day breakfast, salads and flat breads or something more substantial like chicken pie with Madeira sauce or rib stickingly divine lasagne, the menu at Mr Tulk caters for everyone. Ive never had anything but a great meal here. And staff have even shared recipes with me when I've wanted to replicate something at home. It can be a tad noisy but if youve got a booming voice like mine your lunch companions wont miss even the smallest detail of your office gossip ;)

Part of the State Library this cafe has a very funky vibe, and decor to match. Nice spot for lunch and the menu has a bit of pizzazz about it, which putit firmlyin the mid-high price range. Inside runs smooth. The seating outside can be a little crazy and it's hard to figure out whether they get table service or not - it seems sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Can take aaaaages to get your food and coffee.

The space at Mr Tulk is fantastic, which shouldn't really be all that surprising that it's situated in a wing of the State Library. The coffee here is great but I always find it hard to get excited about the food on offer. It's nice but expensive for what it is, leaving you feeling that you didn't get a great lunch.
They're also licensed with beer and wines on offer, but it feels like an odd place to go for a drink due to it's cafe vibe.
