What can I expect at my first appointment?

A warm welcome by our friendly team at reception followed by a detailed assessment with your clinician including discussing your injury history, exercise habits, work postures and the key reason you are seeking treatment. This enables identification of the injury, as well as the Ilk* contributing factors. Your clinician will then provide treatment, and in most cases, an exercise or two that facilitate ongoing progress between appointments.

What should I wear to my consultation?

Ideally comfortable clothing, similar to what you may wear if exercising. We have a change room and bathroom onsite.

Will my private health Insurance cover the cost of my appointment?

If you have 'extras' Included with your policy then your private health insurance will most likely contribute towards the cost of the appointment. The amount covered is dependent on the level of cover you have and the insurer you are with. Please check in advance with your insurer if this is a concern for you.

Is parking available?

One hour metered parking is available on Collins Street and Exhibition Street. Longer parking options are available in Little Collins Street with access to Collins Street through Ridgeway Place.

Kate is a fantastic physiotherapist. I saw her in London for many months after breaking my knee. Without her help and dedication I will not be running again. I wish her the best of luck with the Pure Physio practice and I have no doubt she'll bring her physiotherapist successes from London to Melbourne.

Andrew was my physio back in the UK, and I'd been seeing him for about 3 years before he left for Melbourne. I originally went to him in regards to neck and shoulder pain that caused me headaches. He was able to pinpoint immediately what the problem was and where it was coming from, and how it could be fixed (something the NHS physio was unable to do in 7 sessions, hence me going private). He gave me printouts of exercises to do after each session, and the headaches did go away, and I also improved my posture. Whilst seeing him for treatment, I did a 10 mile run and ended up injuring my foot. Again, the NHS doctors weren't of much help to me. I had an appointment with Andrew the following day anyway, and upon noticing me limping, he insisted on checking my foot out. He gave me a tubular bandage to put over my foot, which certainly eased the pain, and probably helped my foot to heal faster.

I was incredibly happy to learn that Andrew was from Melbourne, as I was planning on heading there myself, and even more so when I found out he was opening his own clinic there. I had the privilege of being one of his first clients. Upon entering the clinic, you are greeted by a bright green cheery wall, that immediately lifts your mood. The atmosphere is warm, relaxing, and inviting.

His friendly, professional manner put you at ease, whilst he takes your head in his hands, and twists your neck. I wouldn't trust anyone else to do that to me, and even though I'd been suffering from headaches, I waited until he opened his clinic just so that I could be treated there.

I would highly recommend Andrew and Pure Physio to anyone in pain.

I visited Pure physio Just a week ago now just after they opened and I was genuinely impressed, with the whole package.

The Rooms
Pure physio is very handily located in central Melbourne and felt very urban cool, perched up on the level 2 mezzanine (visible from the street) of a tower complex. The rooms were clean, comfortable, warm and modern with excellent facilities.

The Treatment
My hour long initial appointment consisted of about 30 minutes of 'diagnostics' followed up by another 30 minutes or so of treatment. Andrew took the time to figure out exactly what my issues were and explained them to me in detail. Subsequently the treatment, provided immediate and lasting relief from my symptoms.

The People
Andrew was courteous, engaging, efficient and friendly. He took the time required to ensure that I understood my problem and how best to manage it long term. He obviously knew what he was doing and was clearly a knowledgeable, experienced practitioner.

Overall
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend pure physio to any of my friends and family. If you're located in or close to the city and need a physio, then Pure physio will delivery a modern, effective and efficient service. I'll certainly be going back.

I first met Andrew (the owner of Pure Physio and qualified physiotherapist) at another Physio clinic. At that time he was filling in for someone who was on holidays. I must admit I was skeptical at first as it is always hard to deal with someone new that you have never met, but I was soon pleasantly surprised. I had referred back pains from a car accident when I was young. Andrew is very professional and after quickly reading my records he soon caught on and knew exactly where the source of my pain was coming from. At each session, he would firstly help me release the tension in my back, then he would teach me a new exercise for me to do at home to improve my back.

As Andrew was only temporary at the physio clinic I was visiting, I followed him to another clinic when his contact finished. Although it was an hours drive from where I live, I felt it was worth the travel time as my back pains were improving. Andrew taught me strategies to reduce my pain levels and he also made me more aware of my incorrect posture whether standing or sitting. I also really enjoy chatting with Andrew. He is very friendly and remembers the conversations we had in the past, which makes each visit relaxing and personal.

When Andrew informed me that he had intentions of opening his own physio clinic in the city I was very happy for him. It also meant that I wouldnt have to drive 1 hour to see him anymore. When Pure Physio finally opened in August 2010, I was his first client. A lot of thought had been put into the clinic. The environment and equipment had all been carefully chosen to create a modern but comfortable atmosphere.

I know I have still have a long way to go to recover from my old injuries but at least now I feel I am going to get there with Andrews help.

I tore my ACL in a skiing accident and had an operation to put in a new one at the end of April 2010.

The typical recovery time for this type of knee injury is 8-9 months, but as I write this 7 months post-op I am ready to hit the slopes again, in large part thanks to the fantastic physio regime I had with Kate Senini in London, UK before she went home to Melbourne to work at Pure.

Knowing I wanted to get back to serious skiing activity, she really put me through my paces and pushed me to just the right degree to keep progressing at a good rate. The sessions have since gone beyond recovery and on to skiing-specific strengthening work ensuring i am in better condition than before my injury.

Further, when i developed a problem with pain in my shin whilst running (in my supposed good leg, not the injured one!) she was able to diagnose this very quickly as being a problem with the muscles in my calf. Within one or two sessions of treatment and a couple of stretches prescribed it was gone and has not come back.

As well as being a great physio, she is also good fun to be around - when you are going a couple of times a week for several months this makes a huge difference.

Highly recommended.

I saw Kate in the UK after tearing my Achilles playing football. As an active person I was eager to recover in the shortest time possible; post op.

Kate was excellent in managing my expectations and coaxing me through various exercises to achieve the various goals she set on my road to recovery. I credit her for commencing with various core exercises whilst still in the dreaded "boot" for my relatively quick recovery from such an injury.

Being incapacitated proved quite frustrating at times but thanks to Kates disposition I always felt I was in the right hands due to her endless enthusiasm and knowledge.

I have been lucky enough to have been treated by Kate whilst in London and can highly recommend her as a physio. Not only is she incredibly knowledgable but is also great at listening to feeback and acting accordingly. London's loss is Melbourne's gain!!
