I found the park entertaining for my nine year-old. The price was alright and the waiting times for the rides were acceptable. I found that staff were very friendly until my son wanted a hot chocolate.
I ordered a large hot chocolate for $5.00. A young woman dipped the tip of the spoon into what appeared to be a chocolate powder with sugar in it. She carefully jiggled the tip of the spoon into the powder and threw some chocolate back into the box making sure not to put more than a tip-worth into the cup. She did that twice. When I told her that I ordered a hot chocolate and not hot milk with a bit of sugar flavour, she said in a belligerent manner: Thats strong.
Im not an idiot. A hot chocolate requires at least two to three heaped spoons-full of chocolate powder. This is not instant coffee. I could see that the powder was NOT pure cocoa but something like Nesquick or a similar pre-mixed powder. The hot milk tasted just like that: hot milk without any chocolate flavour. When I said that I wanted more chocolate, an older man told her to put another spoon full in. She took back the cup and placed a bit more of the chocolate powder on the tip of the spoon, jiggling it around, making sure not to put more than a tip worth into the mix. How insulting! The hot chocolate was still only a light beige milk mix without any chocolate flavour.
Therefore, I find that Magic Mountain is not worth visiting if they are so stingy that they refuse to make what they advertise: a hot chocolate. They owe me $5.00 as far as I am concerned and an apology.
