Dr Ken Roper

Calm, endearing and overall feeling of reliability were the feelings my wife and I received whilst using Dr Roper yesterday (19.01.17)

Initially booked with another OB Ken conducted the c section surgery due to the holiday timing of our OB we'd used for 9 months. We only met him the day prior to the procedure/birth but were met with an informative and cordial personality.
We'd read the few reviews online prior and am pleased to say that the standard 'TripAdvisoresque' review system is in play here from unreasonable people with a skewed perspective on the way of the world.

Professionally and efficiently conducted the birth was a pleasure with Dr Roper and his team used at Kareena.

The other reviewer of Ken? They wanted a water birth, cool idea (I suppose....) but for an OB looking at safety of the child (which should be priority) Dr Roper is in touch with this reality.

Dr Ken Roper is a genius, spot on & always onto everything. His an absolute gentleman.

Dr Ken Roper is pretty old school. Not very up to date with latest evidence-based practice. He was always late for appointments and came across really rude and arrogant when we asked questions. My wife wanted a positive birth experience so we decided not to go with him in the end.

Dr Ken Ropers approach is unethical and offensive.

He took my fundal measurements wrong by 3 weeks over, and then told me I was at risk of having a large baby and a caesarean, then he recommended "to not eat so much ice-cream."
(Midwives took my fundal measurement correctly only 2 days later. I gained 14kgs in total during this pregnancy, so not a huge amount.)

He scoffed when we mentioned using our Calmbirth techniques and wanting to have a water birth (which was strongly recommended by the hospital he works at). His response was; "I can offer a full refund and recommend another doctor."

He told us he knew midwives at our hospital who's competency was questionable and if I got "stuck" with any one of them I would be in trouble.

When he sent our refund cheque, he included a printout detailing a baby dying after contracting Legionnaires during a water birth in a US hospital years ago.

As I write this, I still can't believe it. Dr Ken Roper actually is THIS BAD.
