Withholding medical records due to an unrelated fee.

I had a terrible experience at MedOne. I went in for a necessary Implanon removal and was given different prices multiple times. I was told one thing by the doctor and another by staff, and ended up going through the procedure without anaesthetic because I was told it would be cheaper—only to later find out it made no difference. This left me in unnecessary pain and distress.

I clearly told them I am autistic and that my support person was on the way because I struggle to advocate for myself. Instead of showing understanding or care, they pressured me about fees, gave me inconsistent and confusing information, and spoke in a pressuring tone. This triggered my disability and left me unable to properly communicate or organise the correct payment. When my support partner arrived, he had to sort it out. Because of the confusion they had caused, they then offered him a “discounted” fee of $15, with the rest to be paid at the next appointment. We never asked for a discount, and this only added to the confusion and distress.

Now, they are withholding my medical records unless I pay more. This creates a barrier to further treatment, as I need my records sent to my new doctor for the correct referral after their doctor already made an incorrect one. I was already planning to transfer clinics due to their incompetence, but I had hoped to at least be treated with respect for something urgent. Instead, I left feeling dismissed, overwhelmed, pressured, and discriminated against.

I would never recommend this clinic, especially to anyone who is autistic or has a disability.

From what I’ve read in other reviews, I imagine my recent phone interaction was with “Sally,” who seems to frequently respond to complaints defensively instead of taking responsibility for the clinic’s poor conduct.

MedOne Medical Centre Mirrabooka is amazing - everyone is kind, caring and professional

10/10 rating ... The staff at MedOne Medical Centre Mirrabooka are all kind, caring and professional ...

The Receptionists welcome you in with a friendly smile and caring nature. They do a great job assisting with enquiries and processing payments, rebates and receipts after your appointment. They are also happy to scan or copy any necessary documents ...

The Doctors are all great from the ones I've been to ... Dr Perry Lee is my favourite Doctor, he's my regular GP Doctor who I've seen for years. He is kind, patient, understanding and knowledgeable. Dr Perry Lee shows a genuine concern for everyone's health and wellbeing. He listens well to patients, which allows him to give a proper accurate diagnosis and offer support to treat an illness, even assisting with mental health referrals and specialist referrals ...

Even the lady Tanya at Clinical Labs in the centre that takes the blood tests who is there most of the time is always supportive and understanding ...

I can't fault anything with MedOne Medical Centre Mirrabooka, it's amazing, keep up the amazing work everyone :)

WRONG INFORMATION AND NO COMPASSION

When you call on weekend, the Phone Message says that they are open Saturday and Sunday until 5 p.m., BUT then the Phone Message Says that You Called outside of Business Hours when you Just called at 1.30 p.m., and when you go there in person in the AFTERNOON, THE Practice IS CLOSED. How bad is that. Also, when You want a Phone Appointment, the Receptionist gives you one, then you receive a message to confirm it, THEN another Receptionist calls sou and tells you that your Phone Appointment cannot take place because you did not see the Practice there during the past 6 months, EVEN though you have been a patient there for a longer time.HOW UN-AUSTRALIAN IS THAT? SHAME ON YOU, Administration, NOT EVEN MY MONEY IS GOOD ENOUGH, LETTING EXISTING PATIENTS IN NEED OF URGENT SCRIPT DOWN, HOW UN-AUSTRALIAN IS THAT, NO COMPASSION, THIS IS A DOCTOR'S SURGERY TO HELP PEOPLE, NOT A COOKIE FACTORY

I called the day before to inquire if there is a high chance the doctor will be more than 15m late because I can only leave work for a limited time. I was reassured that it "Should be fine" and that I can call half an hour before the appointment to check. Sure enough, I did, and was told the doctor was not running far behind (though they didn't specify). I was advised to call in another ten min just before I leave to make sure. Once again, I did this and was told that there was only one appointment before mine and that the doctor "Isn't far behind" on the appointments. When I arrived, there were 2 people waiting before me and in the end, I waited 30min. At 25 min in, I told the receptionist I had to get back to work, but was told I was about to be called in. When the doctor came out 5min later, some one else was called in. I left then, very unhappy - not only did I waste my time but I did not get to see the doctor.

If you have a full time job and are time poor, this is not the place for you.
