BE VERY CAREFULL - before considering buying a car from Duttons VW. Look at the other reviews on the Internet first before buying a car from them and also ask around and get personal referrals.



We purchased a new VW Tiguan from them after the second hand VW Golf we bought from Southern VW engine failed after having it only up to its first service, left still owing $15000.



After the first new car service that was done by Duttons we noticed Oil on our driveway.

The Car was taken back to Duttons and after about a week returned, being assured by them the repair was successful.



A few thousand kilometres after that repair more oil marks and actual streaks of oil was discovered.

The whole underside of car was covered in oil.



The car was returned to VW Duttons Totness Mount Barker on which the new diagnosis was that the engine was beyond repair and a new engine was needed.

Duttons provided us with a Courtesy Vehicle.



We explained to them we don't want the car back, either a new car or a buy back as the car is unreliable, we also don't know if it it is the workmanship in the workshop is the problem.

There was absolute no Documented communication from Duttons on what is happening with the car, only when I phoned them in the new year was told the decision was to put a new engine in the car and that it was almost complete.



Now we do not know if the new engine was directly from VW Australia or they pulled a reconditioned engine from somewhere else.

On the phone it sounded like the car was sent away to be inspected but don't know if it ever left their premises.

Through my phone communication with them I found them to be very dishonest when pushed about what was happening and actually happened, a bit like a cover up to get the client out of the door and take the next clients money.



They want us to deal with VW Australia directly about a refund of the car.
