Q.I.M. Engine Reconditioners

My job was only small but they kept me up to date and did a good job at a good price. I thought it was good old-fashioned service.

I had a 304 rebuilt here, picked it up was told it had a tail shaft vibration even though it vibrated in neutral. Had several mechanics say the tail shaft was fine and they believed it was the engine not being balanced correctly.

Had the extractors leak 3 times and was met with a rude and aggressive mechanic when told it was leaking for a third time had to wait for Terry to come back from holidays before it was fixed.

Long story short I had to have the engine rebuilt a second time 18months and 5000kms later.

Had the guy who rebuilt it tell me the piston clearances were tight, crankshaft clearances were tight, balancing was out, valve springs not correct tension for camshaft, and valve guides in several cylinders were worn. Another $8k gone.

Tried to recoup my loss or some of it with Terry, but he wasn’t a decent enough human to admit he and his guys made a mistake, so I am out of pocket $8k for his poor workmanship, not to mention the money it cost me to try diagnose the problem after the rebuild.
