I attended to request a quit smoking aid in Spetember. The doctor prescribed Champix which has had a recall notice since August which I have confirmed with another medical practice would have been updated on their system to advise due to the fact that Champix is currently recalled due to a lawsuit and subsequent contamination. The doctor knowingly prescribed medication that wasn't available OR doesn't update their system accurately and timely which is a danger to the patients and public. When I called to advise of the error I was told he was extremely busy and I would have to rebook the following week. Clearly an attempt to get funding from the first appointment which did not serve its purpose and second appointment which was his error in the first place. in addition to this the doctor proceeded to forcefully demand I see their exercise physiologist and dietician and psychologist referral which I have been sent to previously and didn't contact me for several months. When I attempted to lodge my complaint with the practise manager at 2:50 on Friday I was out on hold as she was on a call and then after three minutes advised she was actually not in for the afternoon. The receptionist was incredibly unhelpful, the doctor has provided a dangerous recalled medication and attempted to get further funding from Medicare for a follow up appointment they should not have required. I will proceeding to discuss this with both QLD Health as clearly the information the doctor is operating from is out of date and a hazard to their patients and also Medicare that the doctor is providing and billing appointment when they are not providing the service.
