I recently purchased a D&B Goodyer home which was advertised on the internet as another quality D&B Goodyer Home. The house I purchased is definitely not a quality home.
I have found many construction issues that need repair, but once I paid my money they just walked away and left me in the lurch.
I did get a building inspection completed, but unfortunately this was done after I had already moved into the property. The building report listed a whole raft of minor defects, a copy of which was forwarded to D & B Goodyer. It is now some three and a half months and the only response from D&B Goodyer has been the sounds of silence.
One of the minor defects listed in the building report, however a major problem for me, are the non-functioning seals on the two frame-less showers. This results in the sills letting water flood out onto the floor. At the end of my first week D Goodyer and his son did call in as they were concerned that my house was one of the first to have these showers installed and that they needed to resolve the problem as they were rolling them out to their other new property developments. I was however put out by his attitude and smug comment that I could just mop up the flood with towels. That's just not good enough. And now some three and a half months later I still have the problem.
Along with the defects listed in the building inspection report, as time went by, I continued to find yet other problems. With absolutely no help from D&B Goodyer I have been sorting them out myself.
I recently returned from an extended overseas trip trekking in wilderness areas in Alaska, Canada and Yosemite National Park in California and one of the warnings you quickly learn is to be BEAR AWARE. If you are purchasing a new home in the wilds of Northern Tasmania you need to be D&B GOODYER AWARE. No STARS from me.
