Dog Owner in Mourning

WORST VET, AVOID

WORST VET, AVOID

My wife and I took our 18 year old Maltese Terrier in for humane euthanasia but she was effectively tortured to death.

When we arrived we presented at the reception and advised with great sadness that we needed to have our beloved dog euthanised as she was now blind, deaf, distressed and suffering dementia. There was absolutely no compassion or sentiment of commiseration from "Diane", she just asked for surname, name of our dog, looked up on the computer and then placed a form in front of us and almost slammed a pen on top. While my wife was completing the form "Diana" asked "what do you want to do with the remains?" We said we would like the ashes, she then reached down and threw a laminated pamphlet in front of us with prices handwritten over the selection of urns, while my wife continued with the form and got to the urns options she asked what they were and Diane just tapped the pamphlet and said "they're there!" It felt like we were annoying her by being there in our time of grief.

Then the Vet, "Gwaze George" arrived but did not introduce himself, my wife called the next day to ask his and the receptionist's names. "Gwaze" only said "take her to room 3". In room 3 "Gwaze" did not explain the process but only complained that our dog was hard to shave and we said that we haven't been able to groom her recently as she has been distressed. "Gwaze" then prepared the syringe and my wife asked if he was going to give our dog a sedative first and he said "oh, OK." He left and returned with a sedative which he said should only take a few minutes to take effect and then our dog would go to sleep, however, after 10 minutes our little dog was still aware that she was being handled and was yelping and recoiling whenever "Gwaze" touched her, obviously he hadn't administered enough sedative. When "Gwaze" went to administer the drug for euthanasia and our dog recoiled he became obviously flustered and pulled the needle away and reattempted to administer a further 2 times, each time removing the syringe every time our little Maltese Terrier flinched and then directed the nurse to wrap the leg and prepare the other leg, the Nurse was able to shave the other leg without a problem, but again "Gwaze" struggled to find the vein, then depressed the syringe very slowly while our dog was struggling and my wife, while crying her eyes out, had to hold her down. After "Gwaze" emptied the syringe our dog was asleep but still breathing so "Gwaze" had to refill the syringe and inject directly into the heart.

This was the worst experience I've ever had at a vet and I deliberately waited 3 days to write this review to temper my emotions, but 3 days later I'm still upset and angry at the way our dog was treated without any sense of dignity and my wife and I were treated like an inconvenience.

Disatisfied

Dissatisfied by their awful service

Money grubs

Make sure they can prove a snake bite!!!!

They neglected my golden Labrador (brain tumour they didn't diagnose).

Sent him home after $660.

After an hour seizures from midnight to 9 am not answering phones.

New to area and have now discovered an amazing vet at Thirmere Caring Vets

After visiting MacArthur Vet Camden (who closed and no answer to calls) and Rossmore who also didn't answer calls meant our boy suffered for 9 hours with non stop paddle and grand mal seizures.

His blood tests were perfect and did not indicate snake bite.

But the vet at Rossmore said watch and wait when we couldn't afford anti venom.

Shame on yo

We will be in touch with the Vet authorities.shame

Money grubs

Be warned people if you love your pet and wallet go to Thirlmere Caring Vets.

My 15 year old golden Labrador taken here after another vet released him and had closed.

AH was around $189 here just for consult.

When we got there blood tests were done and liver and kidney function good ....but told it was a snake bite!!

When we said we didn't have the extra $1099 plus needed the vet gave a sedative and sent us home!!!

No mention of putting our boy out of his distress.

All about money with this service.

When we got home an hour later our boy seizures and no response from my frantic calls.

So our beautiful golden Labrador suffered non stop paddle and grand mal seizures till morning.

As I'm new to area did not know about Thirlmere Caring Vets whom I recommend highly!!!!

They were amazing!

They do AH and home calls and with Pets at Peace and their final fee was $770.

Rossmore was $660. For substandard treatment.

The Manager is a money centred uncaring person and reception infuriorating.

My poor boy had a brain tumour.

He is now at peace.

However I will never forget the experience.

I am approaching Vet Authority about the poor practice of both Rossmore and MacArthur Vets Camden.

Shame on you both

People go to Thirlmere Caring Pets.

so near and yet so far

my dog got a perfect operation result from a man who assured me he could do as good as anyone, but unfortunatelly for some reason or other some other vet there did the postoperative work and he was against me and my dog so i ended with i think a catastrophy after being as close as any dog could be to complete recovery

Disgusting service

Do not allow your pets near Dr Ted Humphries! He was rough not to mention cruel to my puppy! When I requested another vet he escorted me to the door and told me to get out! Absolutely disgusting!

mixed feelings

I went to buy a Pomeranian that they had available as part of their animal shelter services connected to Bankstown Pound. It was advertised as 9yo but the medical check said it was 12yo. I took the dog home for $275. Pretty good price as it included desexing and microchipping. Getting a dog from the pound is a very hit and miss time in the first two weeks. You don't know exactly what you are getting. I thought I had hurt it's leg. I took it to the vet paid $50 ten days into what I imagined could be serious injury. The end out the injection during desexing had swelled up from not being injected properly. My local vet said I should take her back because it wasn't a good job. Kevin the vet didn't agree I should get any compensation. He treated my dog with an injection. I have mixed feelings about the hospital. Could be better but they do look after strays.

We would like to thank Dr Nick for his compassion and gentleness towards both us and our beautiful Trinity as she had to leave us. Thank you for making our decision and our loss less painful. She passed peacefully in good hands. And now you are treating our little man DJ as his heart murmer worsens with equal compassion and understanding. We have a great deal of respect for your talent and your bedside manner Dr Nick. Thank you.

While the rest of the world celebrate Christmas 2016, I (and my family) mourn the loss of our beloved little girl - 4 year old pure Staffy Minnie. If only I had not sent her to Rossmore Vet, my little girl would have been alive and celebrating Christmas with us. On Tues (20/12), my little girl went for a simple procedure of de-sexing and was discharged the next evening. We found her breathless the following morning. Rossmore Vet deny any wrong however she was bleeding internally and discharged without appropriate checks. She was the MOST beautiful, caring and gentle soul. I will never forgive Rossmore Vet - you have taken a part of me. Please be careful when you take your pet to this horrible place - they simply don't care. Look after your babies...and avoid Rossmore Vets. My fit and healthy girl had many more years to live but this right was taken away from her. How can you be so cruel and negligent in your duty of care? How can they continue to carry out their business?? I will not rest until I find justice for my little angel..... Whilst Rossmore Vet & staff enjoy Christmas, my house is quiet with silent cries and thoughts of our baby. We cry the most when our other dog cries as he misses her so much - our heart is absolutely broken. I wouldn't recommend an inch of a STAR for this awful business!!

So last night I called Rossmore Vet Hospital to find out if I could come and get a stray cat scanned for a microchip. Lovely lady says "sure come down". She warns me that I wont be able to leave the cat if we can't contact the owners. No probs. I'm happy to keep this cute cat but beleive I should try and reunite her with her owner first. I arrive at Rossmore Vet Hospital at 7.35pm (5 min after close) and was treated with such disrespect.

A very cold and mean lady reluctantly agrees to open the office after I explain how I called, advised I was on my way, and drove 45 minutes. She says "I'm only going to scan for a microchip and nothing else". Then she says infront of my 8 year old daughter no less then 3 times "you have illegally taken possession of that cat".

This totally freaks my daughter out. She thinks mums going to jail for trying to save a stray cat.

Then when she scans the cat (without even looking at it, rather just throws her hand and scanner into the carrier) she says "yes it's chipped. Take it to a shelter tomorrow".

I'm like "What? Aren't you going to contact the owner? Give me the owners details? Anything? What on earth was the point in me driving 45 min to come & get this cat scanned?"

She just said she couldn't tell me anything due to privacy laws and I had to go take it to a shelter tomorrow.

I have been a loving pet owner all my life and never experienced a less compassionate, rude and down right mean vet in all my life.

Might wanna re think your company values Rossmore Vet Hospital.
