The day of the colonoscopy Dr Hume was professional and I had no issues. When I tried to talk to her 4 days post surgery as I was in pain, I was completely dismissed by both Dr Hume and the reception staff.
They came across very defensive when I wasn’t trying to blame the procedure, I just really wanted some help and support as I didn’t understand my symptoms in my stomach and why they were so painful.
Instead of any post op follow up appt, I’ve ended up
In hospital twice and when I called again, I was told Dr Hume was on leave and when I asked if any other doctor had taken over her active files, I was told the other doctor was also on leave… really strange behaviour. I’m a private patient with private health and had a lot more empathy in the public system. It was really upsetting as empathy goes so far especially when someone is scared and confused.
I’m sure Dr Hume is good at what she does but the version
I got afterwards (she also asked me on the phone call “well what do you think it is”. Such an odd thing to ask a patient calling for advice due to pain)
I hope no one else experiences the same thing.
