When we were looking for someone to construct our front door and surrounds, I was concerned about the single negative review posted here. Having spoken to Teal and satisfying myself that they are professionals, we went ahead and engaged them. I’m happy to report now that not only are they professional, they are absolute master craftsmen and truly excellent service providers. My experience could not be more different to what the earlier negative reviewer posted - something is clearly amiss there.
When looking for trades and craftspeople we had three criteria. Let me detail how Teal absolutely nailed all of these for us.
1. Workmanship
Dion and team built us an absolutely beautiful door. The house is designed in a mid-century minimalist style and they totally got where we were coming from. There’s no visible frame on the door itself and no obvious fixings for the paneling (they are all hidden) - it is impossible to see how it all fits seamlessly together. The wood is beautiful, the width of all the panels is perfect, the stain spot on, the fittings tie in with other black elements on the house. All of these things were discussed in detail and Teal got it right first go.
They worked closely with our builder so everything keyed in perfectly. From ensuring that expansion tolerances between concrete, glass and wood were all considered to shaving the doorstep accurately to ensure that one side met the decking boards and the other reduced rain egress – they were detail oriented. They measured and checked, double checked with us on the phone, liaised with our builder - in short, did absolutely everything to ensure a perfect job.
On installation day, they delivered the door and it and slotted in perfectly without the builder having to make adjustments.
Teal also built an internal sliding door for us. Same story… everything was perfect.
2. Service
We’re on the Far North Coast and Teal staff came from Grafton to meet with us and take measurements etc. They were quoting repairs on some of their doors at another house in the area. This is an important digression. The repair was needed because some folks we know were renting the house and their new puppy chewed the door frames. This could have been a really difficult situation between tenants and landlord etc. Teal to the rescue - they quoted less than the tenants expected to repair and reassemble the door. Everyone was happy and that’s how they were recommended to us.
More evidence of Teal’s fantastic approach; One of their staff had a temporary and unexpected health issue midway through our job. Dion took up the slack with no disruption to progress. He talked through everything with and communicated that there might be slight delay, and then delivered above expectations with no delay!
For some perspective, we had another group (not Teal) build our commercial aluminium sliding doors and it was a debacle from start to finish: doors scratched in transit because they weren’t tied down properly, dodgy powdercoating that had to be redone, modifications after delivery because they measured incorrectly etc. So we know what it’s like when you don’t get good service.
We didn’t have single problem with Teal. All of the folks we dealt with were lovely. They listened, conveyed expert advice, made clear promises and then delivered upon those promises.
3. Price
Teal came back pleasantly less than the other providers we were considering. On delivery, they came in on budget. There were a couple of points where we splurged on nicer hardware (doorhandles etc.) and Teal priced those items openly without applying big markups. They also helped us stay on budget by letting us know every time if we were asking for something that might be a little more expensive. Even so, we came in tight on budget.
To summarise, these guys are fantastic. We would not hesitate to engage them again. Our builder has added them to the top of his list of door suppliers too.

I first used Teal windows back in the early 2000's on a custom, executive home with extensive timber windows, doors and bifold units. I was extremely satisfied then and remain satisfied with the Teal Windows Product. Since then I have used them whenever timber windows/doors are required.
Dion and Jason are very professional, knowledgeable and easy to deal with.
I am a fussy and very particular builder and I can highly recommend their business to anyone requiring their expertise.

We are doing major reno's in stages and wanted WRcedar. I researched the internet, cheaper paper adds, and the big named companies. The quality was either terrible,(get what you pay for) ridiculously expensive or they didn't do custom. Teal at Grafton came out way in front for price and quality. We ordered our 1st window 12mths ago while o/s. Dion & Jason were fantastic with keeping in touch & they delivered to our tight schedule. We got our second major delivery last week. Dion spent over an hour with me in the store answering my every question and making sure the order was spot on with what we wanted, they know their trade. Our visitors including the tradies all comment on the quality of the windows & doors. Highly recommend Teal.

Dion & Jason discussed what we would require to add screens in front of the French doors plus the fittings that would suit. They suggested painting the screen doors which made life easier for the painter. Overall they provided a great service and sound advice.

When we built our home it was designed with lots of windows and doors opening on to outdoor decking. This was a quality build and we expected to pay accordingly. However the doors and windows were a complete let-down from the beginning. Teal windows were difficult to deal with and when ever there was an issue always shifted the blame elsewhere. When the doors and windows arrived they had chatter marks and after much blame shifting Dion reluctantly agreed to replace them. The builder we chose was working on a cost plus basis and we were then left with the extra expense of having them removed, the down time involved and then refitting. We paid an extra $10,000 to have the windows treated with oil as recommended by the oil specialists. This was obviously not done properly and now we have a mould issue. Once again Dion began blame shifting. He will not look at the problem without us paying a $350 plus GST call out fee plus travelling time of $90 per hour plus GST. We had fly wire fitted to all windows and doors leading outside, these are extremely flimsy and have not been fitted to the wood properly and are now all fraying. They cannot be cleaned as any pressure and they just peel away from the wood. As the builder was the client we cannot take legal action against Teal without involving the builder and are reluctant to do so as he took pride in his workmanship and did a really good build for us. He is as disappointed in Teals response as us.
