Circa

I hadn't been to the restaurant at Circa for nearly 10 years and was really looking forward to it. It used to be such a great restaurant with fantastic food, service and setting. With friends in town we decided it would be the perfect location for a long Sunday lunch. Unfortunately the discussion after lunch was really how disappointed we all were. In short, whist the menu looked inspiring the food was a big let down. I shared the lamb with my partner which was ok, nothing special, and the vegetables were rather sad. Not sure what they are doing to the roast potatoes but reminded me of how you can quickly cook them in the microwave at home (rather soggy really). The crab entree was ok, again nothing rather special. The service was very hit and miss as well. Whilst friendly it took too long to get wine and they completely forgot the petit fours with coffee. When we wanted to pay we had to wait and wait until one of us went to the bar with our credit cards to pay. Would we go back? No. It should be a great restaurant, the menu looks inspiring, the surroundings are modern but fundamentally it didn't work for us.
