Last week, plumbcity was engaged for some works at my apartment building.
They used my parking space where my bike is parked to cut wood and concrete as well as using it for the storage of building materials and bags of rubbish overnight which impeded access.
The next day I happened to cross paths with one of the workers who was cleaning the rubbish and hosing all the saw and concrete dust that had accumulated around the wheels of my bike. I was frustrated and explained that they had directly blasted my bike with debree by performing their cuts right next to it. He was apologetic and reassured me the company would reimburse or organise a professional detail as recompense.
After several days in which several emails and calls were made, no affirmative action was taken by plumbcity to remediate the situation.
I got a hold of Steven Walkerdon (director of plumbcity) who refused to take any accountability for the condition his workers left my bike in, instead defaulting to blame the building manager who organised the works. He suggested that it was just dust and a by-product of the works performed - that I could easily deal with and that I should have known as notice was provided. There is no evidence of any notice provided for the works nor evidence that it had been approved that my spot would be used to conduct works.
This attitude demonstrates a lack of understanding and integrity when it comes to dealing with other peoples property.
As a tradesman myself, it is common sense to not put people's vehichles in the direct line of fire for works performed. Additionally, it is basic standard practice in business to maintain a duty of care.
I ended up paying for a professional detail from my own pocket.
