I can only rate five stars here but Harwood Funerals deserve ten.

My mother, Tess, passed away suddenly on Christmas day, 2023.

Being such a significant day only left our family feeling further distraught.

My initial intentions were to use the services of one of the better known Funeral Services such as White Lady, Tobin or Le Pine but in response to a general web query I'd created, I was contacted by Angie of Harwood Funerals.

Angie explained the process to me and was immediately upfront in providing all of the known costs and inclusions at a fixed price.

I will admit here that I did have some hesitation in moving forward with Harwood because of the small number of reviews but Angie was so clear, concise and professional in every aspect of our ongoing correspondence, that I quickly became very comfortable in utilising their services.

Given my mother's burial service was quite some distance from the church service, this alone caused great logistic difficulty. Time-frames had to be maintained while still allowing for the interaction between mourners, and providing two priests; one for the church service, and the other for the committal (burial service).

In addition to this, Angie arranged some very special alternatives for my mothers viewing with my mother's make-up and attire being carefully considered and tended to by Harwood's mortuary artist 'Trevor', who worked and assisted my very brave, young niece in preparing Mum for the family's viewing of her.

The entire service and burial were conducted by Harwood Funerals absolutely perfectly, professionally and well below the costs quoted by the bigger companies.

Angie worked with me from start to finish and was there every step of the way in supporting my large family with their needs and requests.

After being underwhelmed with one of the larger companies,we chose Julie for my father in law's funeral. It was definitely the right decision. She helped us coordinate our own style of occasion which we held at our home. Nothing was difficult. Julie's compassionate and easy going nature was just what was needed. We subsequently recommended her and her team to a friend whose husband was a model train enthusiast. His funeral was held at Healesville's historic Railway Station. Perfect!

The people involved handled the arrangements in a very professional manner. Given the type of Church service, their role needed to be more in the background, and they managed the balancing act between providing information, and not intruding very well.
