Townsends Nursery

We moved here 3 years ago and it has been a pleasure buying my plants from Townsends. Lois Townsend is a kind no fuss country lady who knows how to grow and sell plants. She is knowleagable about her products and has helped me revive many of my poor efforts .I am no longet a plant disaster and love mu garden. Its a lovely business only thing it needs is a coffee van and some seating .A pleasure to visit peaceful.

I have always found Townsend's, particularly Lois, to be polite and helpful. Their prices are fair and same as other nurseries inn this area. Never known such hard working people, good job Lois and team.

I bought 2 trees this past Feb 21 from

Townsend. A Mandarin Tree & a Dwarf Apricot. 60 BUCKS each. The Apricot tree looked sick with curled leaves but the granddaughter said to just give it good hydration as it was probably dehydrated. I did. And I looked after it as I did for the Mandarin. Well, as expected I got GOOD new growth in Autymn from the Mandarin but no growth at all from the Apricot and it just remained sick with curled leaves NO new growth at all. Until I decided to call Townsend but had to leave a msg as it voice recording says “we are out so leave a msg & we” call you back tonight. That was last week. No call back so I callled today & spoke with their granddaughter who told me to speak to Lois and she’ll probably give me a credit. I said just a swap over would be fine. Even though I paid $60, and the bare rooted are $30.

Well she did call me back after I left her a voice msg and I told her she the same story again. She told me to bring the tree in.

We took it to them, but just after we pulled it out of the pot & wrapped up the base as Paul was putting it into the car, the tree broke at its root stock.

Lois was rude when I showed her and kept insisting the tree was fine & that she couldn’t do anything about it since we broke it.

Rude and insisting on her story when the teee has NO new growth over Autumn. None visible YET she maintained that IF it were not broken she’d repot it (and clearly sell it again) BUYER BEWARE!! She sells dead and or diseased trees!!!

Lois is rude. She has no customer service. And I went there today albeit really sick to show her this sick tree they sold me. Trust me this nursery is really expensive and although I was a customer - no more. They have lost me and anyone else who asks what they are like. I held off writing anything that was negative about them. Giving the space for them to do their job. As a CEO myself - I always insisted on customer satisfaction. Word of mouth is worth all the advertising dollars you could possibly spend.

Very disappointed.
