Bait and switch pricing + no refund = regret

If you enjoy being jerked around by a removalist company that can’t keep its own pricing straight, this is the one for you. I provided full details for a quote, received a rate, paid a deposit, and then got a confirmation email with a higher rate. When I questioned it, they sent the original quote again — only to call the next day and say, “Oops, it’s actually a different rate,” but hey, they’d knock off $5 as a “favour.” How generous.



This kind of chaotic admin — or let’s be honest, shady bait-and-switch tactics — made it impossible to trust them. We cancelled the booking, but even that was a saga of multiple emails. And the kicker? They refused to refund the deposit, citing an admin fee. Apparently, I was paying for the same incompetence that made me cancel in the first place.



Later I found out they’ve got a warning from Consumer Affairs Victoria for unethical practices. Wish I’d checked sooner. Lesson learned: steer clear unless you enjoy paying for confusion and dishonesty.

Public warning: Avoid dodgy furniture removalist - My Moovers



The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has issued a public warning to consumers to avoid using a Melbourne-based furniture removalist who operates nationally.



Consumers should avoid engaging Ajanvi Pty Ltd, trading as My Moovers and Saka Qld Pty Ltd trading as My Moovers Qld and the associated websites:

www.mymoovers.com.au/removals/removalists-brisbane-northside

www.mymoovers.com.au/removals/lease-cleaning.

The warning relates only to these specific business entities, and not to any other business with a similar sounding name.



A Public warning against Ajanvi Pty Ltd has also been issued by Consumer Protection Western Australia.



Office of Fair Trading Executive Director Brian Bauer has urged consumers not to use the services of My Moovers or My Moovers Qld to protect themselves.



“The OFT has received 68 complaints against the trader from consumers in Queensland since September 2019, with 60 of these complaints lodged in 2020,” Mr Bauer said.



“Complaints received against My Moovers and My Moovers Qld, relate to removalists arriving late or not arriving at all, damage to goods, untrained or inept contractors, the use of inadequately sized vehicles, demand for additional payment prior to the completion of the job, failing to complete the job, and overcharging.

Do yourself a favour and train some pack mules instead...

Every component of our recent relocation was almost perfect with the unfortunate exception of the move itself and its aftermath!

The call centre booking was straight forward (save for an odd request for an inventory after the contract had been agreed to).

A shame, then, that the move itself was so stressful - anxiety induced by the constant moaning from one of the removalists about "loose items" and how we had too much stuff and how the van wasn't big enough....on and on ad nausea um!!

This was a long-distance move. The route chosen by the driver was a treacherous 200km journey over the Victoria Alps. I doubt any other removalist in their right mind would attempt the myriad of tight (some hairpin) bends.

As it turned out, some of our furniture and other items were badly damaged.

Attempts at having MyMoovers compensate us for our loss have proved next to useless. They will not answer their phones to me (I assume they have blocked my number) even though I raised a 'ticket' with their so-called 'support team.'

Don't use these people!

Highly dissatisfied with this service. We were given a time of 9 am for the job. The late afternoon on the previous day it was changed to 10 am. Then on the day, we were promised that they will call us at 9 am to confirm the time again. No one called. After trying for one hour we were given a new time again which is 11-12 pm. No one came. Again job was postponed to 3-4 pm. With 2 little kids this became the most frustrating and stressful day for us, simply because they didn't care and had no backup plan. Finally, we reached the driver by ourself directly and managed to convince him to do our job at 5.30 pm and finished at 11 pm. In my opinion, this type of business should not be in Australia. We will never ever recommend this service to anyone. Such a bad day for us, simply because of very unprofessional service.

DO NOT HIRE

I booked My Moovers for a simple 1 bedroom apartment Local move for Friday 18th December at 2pm. At 2.30pm I was advised via text that they were running 2+ hours late. I tried 10+ times to call the company unsuccessfully, until I turned off my caller ID. At 5.30pm with no sign of the removalists I called again (with no caller ID) and was offered at small token discount after promising that the removalists would arrive later that night. At 6.30pm I called again and was told that the removalists wouldn’t be coming that day. I rebooked for 7am. 2 inexperienced removalists were sent and they proceeded to take 7.5 hours to move my one bedroom apartment with a booked lift. My furniture was damaged and a pay dispute ensued when My Moovers failed to honour the discount they had offered the previous night. I was hung up on multiple times by the extremely rude and unprofessional ‘customer service’ team and was not allowed to talk to the manager despite multiple requests to do so. This company subcontracts out removalists (they do not hire their own) and has clearly has shoddy business practices. They are untrustworthy, poor communicators and unethical to say the least. Do not book this company.

Avoid like the plague!

Shockingly bad, lost our stuff and refused to compensate. Extremely dodgy and unprofessional. Not worth it at all and they charged us way over the odds too.

DO NOT USE!

PLEASE DO NOT USE! This company is worse than terrible, close to criminal! Facebook is full of people who have been charged twice, intimidated, had their property stolen and or damaged. They charged me twice for moving me, and when I call they simply hang up. They also block negative comments on social media and censor reviews on other sites. DO NOT USE.

DO NOT USE MYMOOVERS!!!

Could not imagine there could be a worse moving company out there. We had a 2 hour window to move in to an apartment from 3-5pm with the company recommending there movers arrive at 2pm to complete this job in the timeframe given. Called the company at 2:15pm, 2:30pm & 2:45pm each time them saying they are 10 minutes away. To reassure us the job would be done in time they just said "they'll move fast". Movers arrived at 3pm with Hungry Jacks in hand moping around with no sense of urgency. Took 1.5 hours to load up only half of a 2 bedroom townhouse (with 3 workers including my help in the end)) and when unloading one of them just sat in the truck the whole time forcing the building manager to stay back to allow them to complete the job. I called the company to see if the job could be organised to be completed they only offered to send another group the next day for the same price. Never wasted more money in my life as I had to complete the job myself the next day. I've never left a review for anything but am signing up everywhere I can find to warn people DO NOT USE MY MOOVERS!!!

TERRIBLE. No care or consideration. Untrustworthy. Unprofessional.

Dear My Moovers,



I wish to make a complaint about your service.



On 15th July I was supposed to be moving a mere 10km from South of the city to North. I received a call confirming 3pm on Wednesday. I took the afternoon off work- unpaid- to meet the removal team. At 3:15pm I called to find out of there was a delay or if the team was having difficulties with the address. I called over 20 times using different numbers and it took me 50 minutes to finally get through to the sales team. I spoke to a woman who did not apologise for either the delay or the difficult in contacting someone. She said she would call me back and hung up. Over the next 20 minutes nobody got in touch with me. The mobile I was calling was switched off so that I could not contact them and the the option to leave a message was also removed. I had to call the NSW office who put me through to a different number where I got to speak to the same sales person. Again she did not offer any apology or seem remotely concerned by the delay, the time that it was wasting or my inconvenience at losing money from not being at work at the hands of her service. She had no idea what was going on and I felt very uncomfortable that I was trusting such unprofessional, uncaring and incompetent people to move my entire household.



After 6 minutes waiting on hold with no feedback I hung up and called again to be told that the removal men did not know when they would be there, maybe 30 minutes. She did not offer any explanation as to why neither of the two had contacted me out of courtesy to say they would be 2 hours late.



I was shocked by their lack of care and consideration, their incompetence and their unprofessional behaviour.



I cancelled my move with them because I had lost faith in their team and could not trust such an unreliable service to move my property.



I have read multiple poor reviews about their service in Perth, many to do with poor communication and untrustworthy service.
