I notice you’re a master electrician. Does that mean you’re expensive?
No, it means we’re good. Accredited master electricians are recognised by their peers as being both skilled and knowledgeable, so you can rest easy knowing that your job will be done right.
I just need some new power points installed. Is that too small a job for you?
No, we do large jobs and small jobs; it’s all part of the service. And do not even think about doing it yourself. It might look easy, but you could get electrocuted, start a fire, and make your insurance null and void.
I’ve just bought a house that’s 50 years old. Does it need re-wiring?
Not necessarily. We normally say that houses over 60 years old may need rewiring, but every case is different, and it’s best to err on the side of safety. Even if there’s no apparent danger, old wiring can play havoc with your computers and devices. Call us and we’ll put your mind at rest.
What type of smoke alarm do you recommend?
Photo-electric: detect visible smoke and slow-smouldering fires. They are suitable for most locations, including near the kitchen, as they are less prone to false alarms from cooking. Ionisation: detect particles of smoke from fast-flaming fires. All fire services in Australia recommend photo-electric smoke alarms when installing or replacing existing smoke alarms. For additional protection, consider installing interconnected smoke alarms connected to 240-volt mains power.

Should I replace my old fuse box with a new switchboard?
Yes, if you have an old fuse box, it needs to be upgraded because, like most things, when they get old, they become brittle, cable connections become loose, and there is no safety protection device to protect you, your kids, family and friends, animals, and appliances from electric shocks. When you get us to upgrade your fuse box, we upgrade it to meet the rules and regulations of AS3000. This means that your new switchboard will have the appropriate circuit breakers and safety switches.
Do you do air conditioning?
Yes, we are qualified air-conditioning installers. We specialise in split-system air conditioners (also called wall air conditioners) and can supply and professionally install all the top brands at very competitive prices.

Tried to do a bit of home electrical work myself and ended up fusing the whole house. Rang Steve in desperation. He arranged to come out at a time that suited. Explained all the costs over the phone so no suprises. Would recommend

We had an attempted break in and they had totally ripped out the fuse box, leaving everything live. We needed an electrician immediately and when I spoke to Steven he was great. Sent him photo's of the damage done and he advised us what to do until they could get there. They arrived really quickly and had everything under control. Both Steven and his staff were great. I would recommend them to everyone.

I can't recommend Steven from Hit the Switch Electrical enough!
He attended our property three times to provide an accurate quote without no quarantine of us going ahead with the air conditioning work. We are so glad we did! A massive job installing two split system air conditioners to upstairs bedrooms in our townhouse. The quality of the work is simply fantastic! The rooms were cleaner after they had completed the work than before and the units are running perfectly!
If you want someone that is honest, reliable, on time and provides top quality Electrical work then look no further! I would not use anyone else but Steven in the future.

Fantastic eficient service. Easy to book, they followed up with confirmation call and then came around quoted and as I accepted immediately Steve did the job straight away. Fitted two new light fittings which I am very happy with. Would definately recommend.
