Metropolitan Air Conditioning aims to keep our customers comfortable in all climates, all year round.
Our story began in 1995 with the inception of our first plumbing business in Adelaide, SA. Our modest operation soon grew across Australia as we followed our passion for delivering excellence into other utility trades, including air conditioning and other heating and cooling solutions. Today, we keep hundreds of customers comfortable in all climates through our complete air conditioning service.

All of air conditioning technicians are fully qualified, insured and have undergone extensive training to meet our high quality standards before starting work with our clients. We continuously train our staff so they are up to date with leading air conditioning best practice.
Do you charge extra for public holidays or weekends?
No we don’t! Regardless of the day or time, we never charge extra for after-hours attendance.
What are the methods of payment?
On site, our plumbers accept cash, credit card or cheque. We also have finance options** to approved applicants. If you would like to take advantage of these, simply mention it on the phone to our friendly call staff.
What other services do you offer?
We also have a team of qualified electricians and plumbers, so if you need more than just your air conditioner serviced, we can attend to all your electrical and plumbing needs too!
Are you available on weekends?

They came out and wanted to charge over $3,000 for a service which they said they would have to do before doing a repair which would be over $5,000.
How is this reasonable or ethical?

I engaged Metropolitan Plumbing for a routine air conditioner service in May 2022. I have had this type of service in my own home and at several rental properties many times before, and I know what the job is worth.
After charging a call-out fee and refusing to provide an estimate over the phone, the tradesperson quoted a 'Standard charge' which was almost 10 times what I have been charged by other reputable tradespeople for the same job previously. This quote excluded the callout fee which I paid before realising I was being scammed.
When I realised that they were attempting to rip me off, the tradesperson almost instantly turned to leave. I think they are only interested in ripping off people who don't know any better, or accept a bad deal because the tradesperson is already in their home. Moreover, they have acted in a misleading and deceptive way by refusing to provide an estimate over the phone when (apparently) their service prices are standardised.
I have read several reviews by people who have experienced the same thing. I think this company is essentially scamming people. I have referred the matter to Consumer Affairs Victoria.
Nobody should ever use this company for anything, ever. They should be put out of business.

Husband paid $140 for a quote to service our ducted aircon, thought that he had paid for and booked in a service. Technician arrived and told me he was only going to provide a quote to service and the $140 was a call out fee (to look at the outside of the aircon unit????)
Quoted us $2,800 after looking at the unit for 1.5 minutes. First result on google shows a service should be $60 p/h. Rang another Perth based company and the total service price was $299, booked in for next week. When I mentioned the quote we just received he guessed that it was Metropolitan and said they have quite the reputation throughout Perth for doing this. Business model is a scam.
DO NOT BOTHER WITH A QUOTE, MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN.

Called Metropolitan to assess faults in gas fireplace and ducted gas heating that were not turning on, and for servicing. Paid $141.90 upfront for a technician to arrive at site and assess the fault and provide a quote.
An ethical business would have identified the fault and then advised to perform servicing post finding what was stopping units from turning on. Instead the technician provided a quote for $2047.90 for servicing without even identifying the fault and whether the units will be operational or not after servicing.
So after paying $2047.90 and no receipt of works done we now have two heater units that are not operational, and no advice on what the faults are nor a receipt of the payment. To summarize; we got a professional clean of the heaters for $2047.90!!.

Piece of advise: don’t go for businesses that operate in this model and steer clear of this one. These businesses shouldn’t exist. Go for the brands mechanics or local family owned businesses even if lead times are longer.
