Metropolitan Air Conditioning

Charged me for call out. The technician didn't even look at the unit. Quoted $1200 for a service. Not worth it for an old unit. Quoted $6,200 to supply and install a new unit. $4,000 of that for installation!

One hour later I went to Harvey Norman and bought an a.c. unit and installation for $2,226. Big difference. Saved $4000 by not going with Metropolitan. Shop around people. This is a scam.

$140 call out fee for me to be told it would be $1000 for them to tell me what's wrong when I knew it was a refrigerant leak. Better off burning your money.

This company is dishonest and I would not recommend. They make money from call out fees, shiny google ads and polite chicks on the phone rather than fixing your aircon.



I paid the $120 and a guy came to my house, he clearly had no knowledge of his job. My aircon is coming up with sensor related issues and my googling of it has solved the problem more than he did.



He came to my house, looked at the control screen as if he hadn’t seen one before, went outside to the air con unit for less than 5 minutes before coming back in to tell me he had to contact his boss.



He came back in stating my cheapest option was 3k to take apart the whole system “just to be sure, even though I think I might know what’s wrong with it”



Of course I declined this ridiculous notion, and he left without any further follow up. I then went outside to see a big fat bumper sticker was applied to my outdoor unit which I’m guessing is what he spent most of his time doing.



I have since got the problem fixed for under $300 by a local air con repairer and it was a small issues.



Do not use these guys they’re dodgy.

We contacted Metropolitan AC to service our ducted air conditioner unit. $141 call out fee brought out a technician who spent 10 minutes looking around, didn't check inside the outside unit at all to check anything, saw that the air filter was dirty, explained what they would do if we booked them in and presented 2 quotes, one for 3k to do a complete service and one for 16k to completely replace the system. We booked the 3k job, thinking that they would come and fix the system, our thinking was that it would be fixed to be operational for the next few years. The technician came the next day, spent less than an hour doing the outlined work, tested the compressor amperage, saw that it was lower than normal, not worth fixing and then said that it would be best to replace the whole system for 16k. If we chose to make a snap decision on the spot while the technician was on site, they would be able to absorb the 3k for the hour's work into the 16k job. If I didn't accept on the spot, I would be essentially throwing that money away. I felt hung out to dry! I wasn't prepared to make such an expensive decision in 10 minutes. We should have shopped around more. I don't understand why the initial call out fee didn't include testing of the outdoor unit to give us a better understanding of what we are looking at, which would have saved us $3,039.90. I could not be more dissatisfied with this company. The service didn't warrant the cost and we are at a loss as to why this is the case.

Rung Jims Air conditioning who sent out Metropolitan services for a repair on a split aircon fault.They charge $132 call out fee to start with. Once technician arrives before he even lifts a finger he quoted $1200 for a clean and a service.Anything he finds on top of this that may be an issue he will quote you on extra to repair. He didn't even look or diagnose anything unless you sign an agreement to pay the 1200 service up front.Would recommend people to never use Metro/Jims air-condition services as this is a complete ripoff and buyer beware. The people on the phone that you ring are a call centre and will not tell you any other details other than a call out fee.Absolute SCAM.Beyond these facts the technician had extremely poor customer service skills.

The team of people from Metropolitan Air conditioning that attended my house were courteous and responsive throughout the entire process of a ducted heating unit change over. The guys worked late into the night to try to get everything back to working order. Very professional and all rubbish and debris was removed without a trace. Follow up contact after installation to ensure everything was working as it should. Very impressive service from the tradesman!!
